Too much rain

'When will it stop?' asked the umbrella girl.
'When it's finished,' said the red fox.
'When will that be?' asked the umbrella girl.
'When there's none left,' said the red fox,
'or the river's full.
'Whichever comes first.'

(Pause.)

'When will it stop?' asked the umbrella girl.

'When the flowers are clean enough,' said the red fox,
'or the grass is green enough.
'Whichever comes first.'

(Pause.)

'But when will it STOP?' asked umbrella girl.
'When everything's wet,'
'as it can get,' said the red fox.
'I'M as wet as I can get,' said the umbrella girl.
'Come inside,' said the dishevelled little owl.
'I've got soup.'
