'I see you,' said the first red-breasted wren.
'I see you, too!' said the second red-breasted wren.
'Can you see me?' said the blue-breasted wren.
'Yes!' said the first magpie.
'There you are!' said the second magpie.
'Hello!' said the blue-breasted wren.

(Pause.)

'I hear you,' said the first red-breasted wren.
'I hear you, too!' said the second red-breasted wren.
'Can you hear me?' asked the blue-breasted wren.
'Perfectly!' said the first magpie.
'Me too,' said the second magpie.
'Lovely!' said the first magpie.

(Pause.)

'I've never seen a blue-breasted wren,' said the first red-breasted wren.
'Am I all right?' asked the blue-breasted wren.
'You're wonderful!' said the first red-breasted wren. 
'Marvellous!' said the second red-breasted wren.
'Magical!' said the first magpie.
'Absolutely magnificent,' said the second magpie.
