‘Hello,’ I said.
‘Thank you for coming,’ said the small girl.
‘What’s up?’ I said.
‘I wanted to tell you something,’ said the small girl.
‘Good!’ I said.
(Pause.)
‘You know how you always say “hello” to people?’ asked the small girl.
‘I try,’ I said.
‘Well each time you do,’ said the small girl,
‘it makes people happy.’
‘Does it?’ I said.
‘Yes, it does,’ said the small girl.
