Now you are six and your spirit is like quicksilver, this dishevelled little owl wants to tell you (in case you've forgotten) how much being your grand-owl touches her heart. And that the cat you drew today was wonderful. And that it taught this little owl a lesson. Because she drew a cat for you, first, didn't she? And thinking you were only six (and she was TEN TIMES that) she was sure her cat would be BETTER. And then this little owl asked you, as though being six was a measure of not-knowing-very-much, "Can you draw a cat?" And you took the pen without saying a word, and drew. And where this little owl's cat was just lines on the page, your cat was all personality and life. And when you slid the paper back (still without saying a word) (but twinkling just a little bit) this dishevelled little owl was an ashamed grand-owl. Because six sees the world (and cats) extra-specially, doesn't it? Thank you for helping this grand-owl grow up a little bit today. It's surely and truly, about time.
With all her love
The Dishevelled Little (Grand) Owl.
