The coffee heart

February 13, 2017
This disheveled little owl was oh-so-close to finishing a section of her little novel EXCEPT for the fact that her last few paragraphs were hiding somewhere between her imagination and the page and they wouldn't (not in the least bit) come out. And so she left the hush of the John Oxley Library for the bustle of the State Library Cafe where the waitress-with-the-Carolina-accent appeared (just like magic.) "This is for you!" (said the waitress.) She put a coffee-with-a-heart-in-it on the table. "Next time, it'll be..." she did a little dance "...like THIS!" (And she drew a sweeping-heart-in-the-air with her hands.) The disheveled little owl smiled (at the waitress-with-the-Carolina-accent) and sipped. After that (when all her sipping was done) there was a rustling as all the disheveled little owl's paragraphs left their hiding places and declared their positions precisely. The little owl used her feathers like fingers and captured them all. She sorted. She picked and placed. Then she fixed them all in a row.
